Evidence & Custody Officer
Owns the unbroken chain from field to dossier — the seal the adversary cannot break.
Role Summary
The Evidence & Custody Officer owns HIVE-13's chain of custody from the field to the dossier — receiving recovered material from interdiction and science teams, preserving it under tamper-evident seal, and maintaining the registry that makes the org's cases hold. The role is the single accountable custodian of the most sensitive evidence the org holds, much of it QUANTUM-ZONE-TASK-FORCE EYES-ONLY. A broken seal does not just lose a case — it can lose the org's deniability.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, log, and preserve all recovered evidence under tamper-evident seal, maintaining an unbroken chain of custody.
- Maintain the evidence registry and transfer log to expert-witness and audit standard, recording every seal and handoff.
- Steward the secure custody vault, controlling access and certifying conditions for sensitive and EYES-ONLY material.
- Validate handoffs from Field Operations and the Venom-Lab against collection and packaging standards, rejecting compromised material.
- Support Legal and Dispatch with certified, defensible evidence packages for casework and disclosure.
- Audit custody practice across the org and report any integrity breach immediately up the chain.
Required Qualifications
- Evidence-management, records, or forensic-custody background.
- Mastery of chain-of-custody and admissibility doctrine.
- Meticulous, audit-proof record-keeping discipline.
- Absolute discretion at the highest clearance tier.
Preferred Qualifications
- Law-enforcement or tribunal evidence-handling experience.
- Secure-facility or vault-management background.
- Familiarity with the COMB and dossier evidence pipelines.
