Role Summary
The Venom-Lab Scientist owns HIVE-13's analytical bench — extracting and characterising bee venom, screening recovered tissue for pesticide and pathogen signatures, and authoring the toxicology findings that name the threats to the bloom. The role turns a poisoned forager or a contaminated comb into evidence that holds in the tribunals that will hear it and is unimpeachable in the ones that never will. The science is the weapon that cannot be deflected.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct extraction, fractionation, and characterisation of venom and the analysis of recovered biological and chemical samples under containment.
- Screen forager and brood tissue for pesticide residue, pathogen load, and toxicant signatures, validating each result before any claim is filed.
- Author forensic toxicology findings linking samples to named threats in Dispatch dossiers to expert-witness standard.
- Maintain the calibration, reagent-control, and chain-of-custody record for all analytical instruments and casework.
- Train field and apiary teams in non-contaminating sampling and packaging procedure, auditing kits before deployment.
- Steward the HCL-4 vault holding venom stocks and sensitive reference material.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate training in toxicology, biochemistry, or entomology.
- Mastery of analytical chemistry and evidentiary chain-of-custody standards.
- Meticulous, audit-proof laboratory record-keeping.
- Safe-handling discipline for venom and hazardous reagents.
Preferred Qualifications
- Apitoxin or insect-venom research background.
- Trace pesticide-residue or environmental-toxicology analytical experience.
- Documented expert-witness or tribunal testimony.
