NectarNet Field Engineer
Builds and holds the sensor mesh that lets HIVE-13 feel the bloom in real time.
Role Summary
The NectarNet Field Engineer deploys and maintains HIVE-13's distributed sensor mesh — the in-hive monitors, weather and air-quality nodes, and field gateways that feed MELISSA the live picture of bloom health and pesticide drift. The role installs and services nodes across remote and contested terrain, keeps the mesh's data flowing clean, and ensures redundancy where a dead node is a blind spot. When the mesh holds, the org sees a threat before it reaches the colonies.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, service, and repair NectarNet nodes — in-hive monitors, environmental sensors, and field gateways — across the protected meadows.
- Maintain mesh connectivity, power autonomy, and uplink integrity, keeping data flowing clean to MELISSA.
- Diagnose and restore node faults in the field before a gap becomes an operational blind spot.
- Plan node placement for ecological and security coverage with the Telemetry Analyst and Field Operations.
- Maintain the spares, power, and serviceability record for all mesh hardware.
- Decommission and recover nodes from contested or compromised sites without loss of data.
Required Qualifications
- Electromechanical or RF field-engineering experience.
- Sensor-network, IoT, or LPWAN deployment background.
- Power-autonomy and solar/battery troubleshooting ability.
- Field readiness for remote, multi-day deployment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mesh-networking or low-power radio experience.
- Environmental-instrumentation calibration skills.
- Familiarity with the MELISSA ingest pipeline.
